Description

Yorktown, Va

The home of Thomas Nelson

a signer of the Declaration of

Independence. Lord

Cornwallis took it over for

his headquarters when fighting

in this section. He was living

here at the time of his

surrender. Gen Nelson

ordered his soldiers to fire

on it, even tho it was his

home. Several bullets may

be seen embedded in the

walls. A woman of

wealth has taken it on and

restored it, as nearly as possible

as in Colonial and Rev. War

days. One dollar admission

fee is charged. Proceeds go

to charity. Not far from it is

the Yorktown Monument.
