Description

Long miles of treeless,

desert-like prairie

Stretches of U. S lands

none travelled before we

came to much [illegible] of

really living.

There were mirages-water

and trees mainly, galore

all of one day, and a good

portion of another, 'til we

fairly had to pinch

ourselves to realize we

were living, breathing

humans and not illusions.

Kan. roads were mostly

dirt roads then, but it

was a dry season so they

were not bad traveling

but trees were welcomed
