Description

Aug 20

Lake is a few miles long and

a mile or so wide and quite

hemmed in by towering walls.

The one where we camped

towers six hundred feet and all

around the lake they are of

similar height.

The big auto camp is back

of where we are sitting.

This was a great Indian

camping ground in the long

ago. There are bear, bird and

other mounds, numbers of

them, where the camp is

located. Here is found people

who formerly lived in Kingston

township - relatives of the Sheets

and other families.

Geologically there is much of

interest in this region. We liked

Devils Lake so much that we

came back to it often The

Hatchards had joined us -

It is two or three miles to

Barroboo - the home of

Ringling Bros of Circus fame
