When this photo was taken we were being ferried down and across the Great Father of Waters, = the Mississippi River. The long train was divided into three ports; all in one ferry boat. Just as the sun was settling we landed in Beaumont, Texas and about midnight we went thru San Antonio I never supposed I could be persuaded to go straight thru old San Antonio. I saw some palm trees, and an arched gateway, bearing the word - Welcome - (the Gateway - not the trees.
