Sunbury Flour Sack Is In
Herbert Hoover Tower

Sunbury is found among the
memenitoes in the Herbert Hoov-
er Tower at Stanford University
in Palo Alto, Calif.

The tower houses the memoirs
of Mr. Hoover's public life in
service to his cauntry and fellow
men. Among these priceless
mementoes and of special inter-
est to Sunbury, Ohio, is an em-
broidered flour sack from the |
mill of G. J. Burrer & Sons, Sun-
bury, Ohio. At the time of
World War I, Herbert Hoover -
was head of the Commission
sending flour overseas.

Being grateful for this help,
the people of Belgium saved
flour sacks from various cities
and neatly embroidered all
wording and design on the sacks.
These they then returned to Mr.
Hoover as a token of their ap-
preciation. Each sack is dis-
played an its own rod which
turns on a post for easy view-
ing.

Visitors from all over the
world can now admire these
beautifully embroidered sacks
and when central Ohioians see
one from Sunbury, a sudden
wave of pride and compassion is
felt for the days of yesteryear
when love and understanding
was also needed in our world.
