Feb. [crossed out] Jan 27 - '26 The shacks are the homes of the natives. Then is a mine in the side of a moutain nearby, and the Southern Pacific spur from Phoenix runs just back of the shacks. In this mountain background we found lots of flowers and all along the roadway from this point on we saw more and more flowers on the desert. We picked a big boquet of wild verbenas and a variety of other blossoms new to all of us. The second night was spent at El Cantro, Cal the largest town in Imperial Valley. We rode in dust nearly all day, into Eve - and even in the nice Valley city the air was full of dust none of us enjoyed this feature and especially Charley disliked it.
